  1. I used to watch this show every morning before school back when it was on Toon Disney. I loved it then and I still love it to this day.

I’m not bothered by this not quite fitting in with the Lion King because a lot of TV adaptions/spin-offs take liberty with their source material. This isn’t even the first time Disney did something like this, as they had did Talespin before this which had Baloo, King Louie and Shere Khan flying planes in an anthropomorphic animal world. Besides, just because we didn’t see rocket ships or vehicles in the Lion King movie, doesn’t necessarily mean they didn’t exist somewhere in the world.

I also feel like this show’s style and humor fit Timon and Pumbaa well. Hell, I’d even argue that this show used their characters to a greater effect than the movie did. Of course, that could just be because they’re the main focus of this show as opposed to the movie where they were just side characters.

One last thing, that episode with Pumbaa pretending to be Timon’s wife was not the first episode with Fred. This was a previous episode dedicated to introducing him and his shtick of pulling humiliating pranks on Timon. So the ending was not quite as random as you might think.
