In all honesty, I was surprised to hear this show is actually good, but if My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic can be good then I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised that this could be too.
As for the line about switching species, I’m skeptical about that message being intentional since people didn’t seem to as conscious of trans rights issues and weren’t really discussing them back in 2009. However, at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter if that was the hidden intention. It’s a great line that can be used to teach about kindness and empathy toward the trans community, and it should be used to teach that message.
