Apparently, even though they always planned for the show to have a two-season arc, they left that tease at the end in case they got renewed for another one, since the show was popular overseas. The gang going on a road trip fighting the classic monsters was going to be the first half of the season, and the second half was setting up a new arc in Miskatonic University.
Speaking of Batman crossovers, I always wanted to see this incarnation of Scooby-Doo meet with Batman from Beware the Batman. Not only because of the complete tonal contrast, but Mitch Watson was a showrunner in both this show and Beware. There’s even a Miskatonic/Lovecraft nod in both shows.
Yeah, that makes sense, actually. Definitely ended on a note that felt open to renewal.
And that crossover sounds amazing! I haven’t personally seen much of Beware the Batman, but I do dig the style and am ALWAYS open to tonally contrasting crossovers. 😀
