  1. I can vouch for their being an adjustment period for this show. My friend really loves this show and recommended that I check it out so I watched the first few episodes. While I enjoyed the action and animation, I couldn’t get into the show from the first few episodes. It felt a little too focused on humor and I wasn’t a big fan of this Splinter. However, my friend kept encouraging me to watch it, so I did and little by little I started enjoying it more and when I got to the Evil League of Mutants episode I realized just how great this show was.

Nowadays I consider this show to be the spiritual successor to the ’87 TMNT show. Both shows balance humor and action and were constantly creating new and these are the two shows that probably lean into the mutation aspects the hardest.

This version of Splinter has also gone on to become my favorite version of Splinter, and thanks to the movie, it’s also given me my favorite version of Leonardo.

Without getting in the spoilers, yes the leader thing is addressed, although more so in the movie than the show. Also, from what I understand, Raph basically appointed himself as the leader.

Overall, while I’d still say I prefer the ’87 and 2012 series, this is a really good interpretation of the Ninja Turtles and deserves a lot more love.

On a side note, to clear up some confusion on the Nicktoons thing. Nickelodeon started a second channel called, The Nicktoons Network, and I believe this started in the early to mid 2000s. Originally it would just show the exact same things Nickelodeon showed but three hours later, so if you missed it you could catch it on Nicktoons, but eventually it started going by it’s own schedule. Unfortunately, a show moving from Nickelodeon to the Nicktoons Network is basically a death sentence for said show.

One last thing, I liked the CGI TMNT movie too.
