  1. When I heard of the backlash this show received for killing off He-Man in the first episode my first reaction, as a Transformer fan, was “Pfth……wussies”.

While I’ve seen a few episodes of the original He-Man show, I was never a big fan of it, it was more of a show my older sister watched instead. I remember watching, and enjoying, that reboot from 2002 but I haven’t seen it since it first aired. So while I wasn’t a big Master’s of the Universe fan, I am a big fan of Kevin Smith and his involvement, as well as the involvement of Powerhouse Animation Studios, guaranteed that I was at least going to give this a watch; and by the end of the first episode I was hooked.

Even though I wasn’t a fan of the franchise I must admit that I always thought the characters had some cool designs, and I glad this show gave them personalities to go with those cool designs. I’m particularly impressed at how well they handled the comic relief characters like Orko and Cringer. I’m shocked at how much this show made me care for Orko and how he had some of the best dialogue in the show, especially that bit about writing down as many memories as you can so you never forget them.

I agree with you guys about Tri-Klops and I love the idea of him starting a technological cult where he assimilates people into cyborgs. With the end of the fifth episode, I hope he still remains his own villain rather than going back to being a mook.

I felt that Teela’s anger over being lied to was a little irrational, but once it starts hinting at what’s really upsetting her I was a bit more understanding.

I believe this show is actually supposed to be a ten episode miniseries, rather than an actual series and after the end of this first half I’m excited to see what will happen in the second half.

    • Aha, so a 10 ep miniseries. I’m excited to see where they end up going with it, bc I can see so much potential! Merman needs to make his triumphant return – the sea never forgets!!!

      • Yeah I loved this Merman (though not as much as the 2002 Merman, as he was basically Waspinator) and I’d love to see him do more. I’m interested in seeing how all of the villains react to what happened at the end of that fifth episode.
