  1. Honestly, I liked the new Space Jam movie. It’s one big commercial disguised as a movie but so was the first one. I wouldn’t call either a great movie, but I personally prefer the second one. However, compared to this movie it’s no contest, Chip ‘n Dale is superior.

When it comes to characters that are supposed to represent the fans it all depends on how well they’re written. I’ve seen a few good ones, like Justin Long’s character in Galaxy Quest, but I’ve also seen ones I’ve been annoyed by, like Jasmine Savory Brown’s character in the new Scream. I can’t call Ellie bad or good, she just felt bland and underwritten. Apparently, she had a larger role in movie but they cut it down due to negative test screenings criticizing her role. Maybe that’s for the best, otherwise she would’ve run the risk of taking too much focus away from Chip and Dale, where as now she’s just a supporting character who helps out a bit.

While I agree with most of what you have to say for this movie, but one thing I don’t agree with is that this movie wouldn’t be as good without the cameos. The cameos are fun and all, but they’re also a cheap way to get a laugh or nostalgic reaction from people and if that’s all this movie was then it would be quite shallow. Thankfully, I think the cameos, and the humor in general, are use cleverly, but could still work even if they used copyright-safe versions of those characters.

My personal favorite thing about this movie was probably the relationship between Chip and Dale, which I think was handled better in this movie than in the actual show, where I sometimes even wondered why they were even friends.

Before going with Peter Pan, original the villain, who’s name was going to be Mean Dean, was going to actually be Pluto, who hated Chip and Dale for torturing him in the old shorts and was always angry that he always got cast as a regular dog instead of an anthropomorphic one.

Also, Ugly Sonic was originally intended to be Jar Jar Binks.

      • Like I said, I don’t think it’s a great movie, but I do think it’s at least slightly better than the first one. Admittedly, both movies have their own strengths and weaknesses but I just feel like the second has better positives, like LeBron being a better actor (i.e. actually emoting) as well as having a better character arc, and it uses the Looney Tunes better. Still, if you decide not to watch it I honestly can’t say you’re missing much. In fact, some of its flaws might seem even worse now after seeing this movie.

        • Honestly, you’re the first person I’ve heard a semi-positive review of it from, and I know you’re a big cartoon fan too, so I may see it based on your semi-recommendation. Thanks!
