Game Description: Her Story sits you in front of a mothballed desktop computer that’s logged into a police database of video footage. The footage covers seven interviews from 1994 in which a British woman is interviewed about her missing husband. Explore the database by typing search terms, watch the clips where she speaks those words and piece together her story.
Description: Casual Gaming with Chris is the solo livestream show featuring one of the two founders of NerdSloth, Chris Koehne. Chris streamed a variety of casual indie games and horror game let’s plays under his alternate YouTube channel, Spartachr1s Gaming, before moving completely under NerdSloth where he was already an accomplished podcast host with shows like Saturday Morning Cartoon Boom, Party in Peril, Nightmarathon, Know the Lore: Overwatch, and Anxiously Ever After. Chris will typically be found playing indie games, or games with a slight horror element to them as long as they are either story rich or beautiful to look at.
I’m so happy to see you playing this fascinating game. It’s such a unique premise of piecing together a murder mystery by having to look through clips that’s not in chronological order and having to search based on what’s said in the clips. Right from the start it seems pretty obvious that the woman killed her husband, but the story never loses that sense of intrigue. It’s an underrated gem and it was one of my favorite games the year it came out.
As for theories, I don’t really have any. If you watch every single clip in the game then the story seems pretty straight forward without much room for interpretation. I guess you could theorize that Eve is really just a split personality or that Hannah is lying about having a twin sister in a desperate attempt to avoid going to jail. However, I feel there’s more than enough evidence to prove that they are indeed two different people.
Heh, I remember having my friend play this game and being so excited to see him piece the story together for himself. After watching the first four initial clips, the first word he tried searching for was alibi and it only gave him one clip, which had Eve (in that white shirt) talking about how bagged up the mirror and bloody clothes before getting rid of them and that they stored the body in the cellar so the body would eventually be found and they could use an alibi to absolve themselves. I gotta admit, I was disappointed that was the first clip he found.
If you want to check out another game with a unique and interesting story than I highly recommend a game called The Beginners Guide, it’s made by the same guy who made The Stanley Parable.
