Looking back, this was a really good year for cartoons you reviewed, Samurai Jack, X-Men, Infinity Train, Glitch Techs, Recess.
I agree with a lot of your picks, but I can’t get behind putting DBZ over The Devil is a Part Timer for best anime. I got it, DBZ is very important and influential to a lot of anime, but a lot of the tropes it started are tropes I hate (overly long fights, constant transformations, the main protagonist being far more powerful than the secondary characters) and I hate it when they show up in other animes.
Also you mentioned that you watched three animes this year (DBZ, The Devil is a Part Timer, and Soul Eater), but you actually forgot another one, Robotech/Macross.
I was expecting Thundercats Roar to win the worst award, but I had completely forgotten about The Christmas Tree, which I agree is far worse. There are still some Christmas special that I think are equally bad, if not worse, and I’ll have to recommend them at some point.
I’m glad you guys chose Glitch Techs and Infinity Train as the best cartoon you reviewed this year. I was struggling to think of which one I would personally chose for the award, but I think I’d ultimately have to go with Glitch Techs, mainly because I thought the second season of Infinity Train was a little weak (or at least weaker than the first and third season).
Sadly, it doesn’t seem like there’s much hope for Glitch Techs returning, seeing as how the show was cancelled before it even premiered, but here’s hoping it can pull off some kind of revival.
I don’t really have much expectations for your Gumball review, other than I think you’ll really like the animation style.
