  1. You’re ab absolutely right about the first season being made with an adult audience in mind, but still family-friendly enough for the kids to watch too, while the revival was made with kids in mind. I mean, the networks says it all, the first season was on ABC during prime time, while the revival was on daytime syndication. I think the reason for this was because by the time the revival was made the Jetsons was only being reran on blocks of children’s cartoons, so most people probably perceived it as a kids cartoon anyway..

It’s crazy to think about how well-known the Jetsons are and yet it’s original run was only 1 season long, while a majority of its episodes are from the revival.

Are you sure The Jetsons takes place on another planet, because the planet it zooms into on the intro looks a lot like Earth (or at least a somewhat twisted version of it.

Having a clip at the beginning of an episode was common for Hanna Barbara sitcoms at the time. They did it in The Flintstones, Top Cat, and Wait Till Your Father Gets Home (the last of which I’d love to recommend it it’s not already on the list).

I remember there being an episode of A Pup Named Scooby-Doo that was similar to Haunted Halloween and even ended the same way. I didn’t like it in that episode either.

I’m not looking forward to a live action Jetsons either, but I always get kind of annoyed when people complain about things by saying “Nobody asked for this”. I feel like that kind of mentality treats creators as dancing monkeys and pigeonholes them into doing things that people are demanding rather than they’re own creative ideas. Granted, a live action Jetsons reboot is probably more of a cash grab then someone come up with a unique take on the franchise, but you never know until you actually see it. Besides, I’m pretty sure no one ever asked Hanna Barbara to take some of their old obscure superheroes from the 60s and turn them into a talk show host and a lawyer respectively, but I’m also sure we’re all happy they did.

One last thing I wanted to point out is that the flying car is one of the worst ideas I’ve ever heard. Think about it, how often do you see cars breaking down on being stuck on the side of the road, it’s a common occurrence. Now imagine that in flying car, when a flying car breaks down it’s not going to stay airborne for that long and you’re going to crashing down on the ground. Do you really want that?
