This used to be one of my favorite movies as a kid, but I haven’t watched it in a long, long time. Despite having the perfect opportunity to watch it again to prepare for this episode, I never got around to it (in fact, I forgot The Great Mouse Detective was going to be this weeks episode).
Hearing you guys talk about it though brought back a rush of memories of this movie, making me feel as if I had actually just rewatched it. Of course, that’s no substitution for the real thing, so I’m going to have to get around to rewatching this underrated Disney classic.
As someone who’s seen the Black Cauldron, I can confirm that there’s not a single musical number in it. In fact, it barely feels like a Disney movie at all and is probably one of, if not their darkest animated movies they’ve ever done. I personally love it but I can see why others don’t. I’m eager to see you guys eventually get to this one to see what you think of it.
