I remember seeing promos for this show back when it was first coming on and just not being interested at all. In my defense, I don’t recall those promos showing what the show was about, and I don’t think they even showed any footage of Perry or Doofenshmirtz. It wasn’t until I noticed this show had 3 seasons on Netflix (this was back around the time season 4 was airing)) and decided to give the show a chance since I knew how popular it was.
I quickly grew to love this show’s wacky sense of humor and it’s quirky ensemble cast of characters. I always thought it was cool how they’d always find someway to have the Perry story tie into the Phineas and Ferb story by having him and Doofenshmirtz usually being responsible to the disappearance of the boy’s inventions/activity.
My favorite episode was one where Phineas and Ferb went to a Sci-fi/fantasy convention and all the sci-fi nerds and fantasy nerds were fighting over which was better with Phineas and Ferb trying to make peace between them. That episode also had Kevin Smith as a guest star, voicing a special effect artist Phineas and Ferb wanted to meet.
However, I will say that binging this show might’ve been a mistake because if this show has one flaw it’s that the formula can get a bit repetitive. Sure, they do find interesting ways to spice it up but watching multiple episodes in a row at once makes the formula stand out more and makes it a bit tiring sooner or later. I don’t even think I’ve seen all of the fourth season because of this. That’s why I’d recommend taking this show at a slower pace, like maybe an episode or two at a time.
The Star Wars special is really good but that’s not the only crossover they did. They also did one with Marvel where Doofenshmirtz latest -inator accidentally hits Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor, and Hulk taking away their powers so they go to Phineas and Ferb for help. Also Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom, and M.O.D.O.K track down Doofenshmirtz so they can team up with the ‘evil genius’ who stole the heroes powers.
I also highly recommend Milo Murphy’s Law, which is criminally underrated, only getting two seasons. I mean, it has Weird Al Yankovic voicing the main character, what else do I need to say to sell this show?
One of the show’s co-creator also has a new show out now called Hamster and Gretel, which I admittedly haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. While I haven’t heard of any connections to Phineas and Ferb or Milo Murphy’s Law, I’m sure that show will connect to it somehow.
Yeah, I definitely want to watch the Marvel/Star Wars eps, and – honestly – the whole rest of the series, since we were so surprised by it!
I WILL heed your warning though of not binging too much of it all at once, bc I’d hate for it to grow stale for me.
