My thoughts on this show basically mirror both of yours. I’m a fan of Friendship is Magic and the new movie that came out back in September, but I had no interest in this show. I figured it would be like the typical 80s cartoon designed to sell toys by made to appeal to girls. While I wasn’t entirely wrong, this show had a lot more going on for it than I gave it credit for. It was a lot more adventurous than I expected and there was actually a sense of danger. I wouldn’t rank it as one of the great 80s cartoons, but it I’d say it’s at least in the same league as Transformers, G.I. Joe, and He-Man, and I certainly have more respect for it than I did before.
Excited to hear that the show is back to being a weekly show.
One small correction for Chris. You mentioned Friendship is Magic as this show’s predecessor, but I think the word you meant was successor.
