I didn’t think this show was going to hold up, and in some regards it didn’t, but in others it surprisingly did.
A lot of times this felt like your typical cookie-cutter anthropomorphic animal team based show (y’know, lets just call them what they are, Ninja Turtle knock-offs) but they did have a few characters that felt unique like Wildwing and Grim that made the show fun to watch. The rest felt a little generic though, especially Nosedive, who just felt he was there to be the kid-appeal character and to have attitude. I also wish they would’ve done more with Nosedive and Wild Wing being brothers.
I agree about like the designs to the point where I’d consider them one of the strongest aspects of the show, particularly the designs for the villains. I also really liked the villains in this show and how they were allowed to have a sense of humor rather than just taking themselves too seriously. Like Dragaunus blowing up his robots and then apologizing for it, claiming he’s not himself today.
Overall, I’d say this was an average Ninja Turtle knock-off, certainly better than things like Street Sharks and Stone Protectors.
Speaking of Ninja Turtle knock-offs, I’d like to recommend another one. I remember in one episode of your podcast, although I can’t remember which one, you found out that one member of the cast was on a show called The Wild West C.O.W.Boys of Moo Mesa. You two were amused by the title of the show and said you’d have to do an episode on it sometime, and yet I don’t see it anywhere on the ranking list. So I’d like to personally recommend it as it’s my favorite of the Ninja Turtle knock-offs (it was actually created by one of the artists on the Ninja Turtle comics), and the viewer’s choice episode would be “Stolen on the River”.
One last thing, I listened to this episode on your Spotify page, as it seems you forgot to insert the soundcloud recording on this page.
