This Saturday morning, for the 4th episode of 2022’s OCTOONBER celebration, Joseph and Chris watched the Madballs cartoons, from 1986 & 1987. This was suggested to us by NJ Horror! Thanks, NJ!
1. First Episode: Escape from Orb! (1986)
2. Second Episode: Gross Jokes (1987)
Escape from Orb!: Modeled after the popular toy, a musical band made up of Madballs, try to escape an oppressive planet. They plan to come to Earth and play rock and roll.
Gross Jokes: A goofy Monty Python-esque comedy of gross-out jokes and silly skits.

I know my comments for the previous two weeks shows were mostly me disagreeing with certain criticisms you guys had on those shows. This week, you get no disagreement from me, this was awful.
I was bored by Escape From Orb, but even I would say it’s leagues better than Gross Jokes, which just felt like they were throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks, except none of it stuck. I’m actually shocked that you mentioned they were planning on doing six more of these Gross Jokes videos. It didn’t even seem like they had enough material for this first one.
Admittedly, I have no real connection to Madballs, as I don’t think I ever had one as kid and I don’t think I’ve even heard about them until I was an adult. I thought that might’ve effected my thoughts on these cartoons, but to hear you guys not enjoy this either shows that, no, these cartoons are just bad.
I’ll also admit that I agree with you guys that some of the designs are neat looking, but even then the only ones that immediately come to mind are Screaming Meemie (which I think is a terrible name for him), Skull Face, and Freakella.
While looking up info on Madballs, I found out that there’s actually a comic book crossover with the Care Bears…..What an odd choice. (https://brandedinthe80s.com/18575/remember-when-the-madballs-met-the-care-bears).
One last thing I wanted to clarify is that yes, Burger King did give out four Ninja Turtles VHSs, each with one episode, but Case of the Killer Pizzas was not one of them. The episodes were Sky Turtles, April Foolish, Invasion of the Turtle Snatchers, and The Great Boldini.
