This show was actually the first Godzilla thing I ever saw as a kid watching the reruns of this on Cartoon Network, and I hadn’t seen any of of the movies until the 1998 American version came out in theaters. So yeah, I didn’t have the best introduction to Godzilla, hell, I never even saw a real Godzilla movie until 2008.
Even as a kid, I was usually bored whenever I watched this show but I always kinda pushed myself to watch it anyway since I had a friend who was a Godzilla fan so I felt I should be into it too. Now that I’m older, and more of a Godzilla fan, I actually like this show even less, mostly for the reasons you guys listed, and especially because of Godzooky. II know Godzilla had a son in the movies, but his son was never this lame, except maybe in that movie where he talks.
Godzooky even ruins the theme song for me. I find the them song to be fine for the most part, but when it gets to that “And Godzooky” part, along with the cartoonish sound effects, is such a mood whiplash that it’s actually kinda jarring.
