I definitely felt the Adventure Time and Steven Universe vibe, but I didn’t think of Studio Ghibli until you mentioned it.
I will admit that there were some times where the show felt a little too weird and some of the jokes didn’t land for me. For example I found the “You took too long, now your candy’s gone” bit to be obnoxious and made me not want to like Bee at first. Also I was annoyed by the cleavage crab as much as Puppycat was.
That said, this show certainly has a charm and heart to it that I admire. I also loved the aesthetic of this show and I love the creativity of the worlds they visit and the people who occupy them. Despite wanting to not like her at first, I warmed up to Bee pretty quickly and thought they did a great job with the friendship between her and Puppycat.
Heh, I can identify with Bee in the video game world as I’m the kind of guy who likes to do as many side quests as I can before I move on to the main quest because you never know how the story will progress and if it will prevent you from doing those old side quests. Right now I’m playing through Deadly Premonition and I’ve spent so much time going through the town trying to do side missions that long gaps of time have passed between when I have done the main missions.
If you guys loved the video game world on this show I can’t wait until you eventually get around to reviewing Glitch Techs.
Also, they have actually made real episodes of Pretty Patrick Lunchtime https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcAQ9i1-rmBY1_IPFS8vj6g
As for X-Men Evolution, this may be blasphemy but I actually like that show more than the 90’s one. So I’m really looking forward to that episode.
